Safe. Supported. Loved.
CAPS (Child Abuse Prevention Service) is an Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse before harm occurs.
Through education, training, practical resources and child safety certification, we work with children, families, educators and organisations to create safer environments.
Our mission is simple: to help ensure every child is safe, supported and loved.
Building Protection Around Children
CAPS works with children, families, educators and communities to build the knowledge, skills and confidence that help keep children safe.
Children are safer when informed adults, supportive families, child-safe organisations and communities understand their role and work together to protect them.
Our approach connects children’s learning with the adults who care for them, so protective messages are reinforced at home, in early learning settings and in everyday life.
Responsibility for children’s safety remains firmly with adults.
Become a Certified Child Safe Leader
Give families confidence in your organisation's commitment to child safety. CAPS works with early learning centres and other child-serving organisations to assess safeguarding practices, strengthen policies and support them towards Child Safe Leader Certification.
Putting Prevention into Practice
Safe Communities, Safe Children (SCSC) is our flagship early childhood sexual abuse prevention program. It brings together preschool children, parents and carers, and educators through connected sessions, activities and resources.
Children learn about body ownership, boundaries and seeking help
Parents and carers build confidence to have protective conversations and reinforce learning at home
Educators strengthen their ability to recognise grooming and indicators of abuse, respond to concerns and disclosures, and embed prevention in everyday practice
Building Evidence for Prevention
CAPS has partnered with the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) at Macquarie University to independently evaluate SCSC.
The evaluation explores participant outcomes and program delivery, helping us understand what changes, what lasts and where improvements are needed.
This work will inform our practice and contribute to a stronger understanding of child sexual abuse prevention.
Helping Prevention Reach More Communities
Every child should have access to safe, age-appropriate child sexual abuse prevention, supported by capable adults and organisations.
Partnerships with early learning services, local governments, community organisations and funders help CAPS bring specialist prevention to children and families who might otherwise miss out.
Your tax-deductible donation can help deliver SCSC in more communities and build the evidence needed to guide future prevention.
